New Delhi: The final year exams in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic have been a growing concern. While the final verdict on UGC guidelines regarding the exams are awaited, the Delhi High Court has directed Delhi University to go ahead with the offline exams for final year students from September 14 onwards. Meanwhile, the court has also asked the principals of the colleges to submit begin the evaluation of scanned answer sheets submitted during the open book exams, 2020.

While the university has been asked to amp up the process of physical exams and move quickly, it has also postponed the hearing of a petition filed by Prateek Sharma and the National Federation of the Blind on August 27.

The digital correction of scanned answer sheets will be taking place this year and while the exams started off on August 10, they will go on until the end of this month Meanwhile, the letter sent to the principals has the necessary directions regarding the correction of answer sheets and also directed to provide with the required infrastructure as far as technology is concerned for the purpose.

As far as the physical pen and paper exams are concerned, while Justices Hima Kohli and S. Prasad have directed the university to expedite the process, the court was also of the opinion to start them from September 8, itself. However, going by the requirement of at least 2 weeks post online exams, September 14 has been now set as the date.

Meanwhile, the court has also asked DU to check on the details as far as the PwD students are concerned. Meanwhile, other concerns like travel and stay have also been asked to work out and urged the HRD Ministry to come up with practical solutions to any problems that may arise.
