New Delhi: The JEE Main exams have successfully been conducted for 2020. However, as one can recall, there have been multiple instances when students and parents sought the exams to be postponed. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea and now, there are petitions that are currently demanding that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test aka NEET exams be postponed. They are due on September 13, 2020.

And now, the fresh petitions that were filed, have also been dismissed by a bench comprising of three judges, namely Justices Ashok Bhushan, R. Subhash Reddy, and MR Shah. The pleas that demanded a postponement earlier, have already been dismissed and now, it has happened yet again after the petition that was filed by six states to postpone the exams. The decision came on September 8, and now, they will be conducted as per schedule.

Senior advocate Arvind P Datar went on to argue how the petitioners are only seeking a postponement and with 16 lakhs students writing the only medical exams, it is difficult. He cited Bihar as an example, which only has Patna and Gaya has the two centres and with trains not running, they are only seeking a postponement of 3 weeks.

Senior advocate KTS Tulsi, also went on to say how containment zones also pose a problem. Earlier, KTS Tulsi also urged the NTA to re-conduct the JEE exams for those who could not appear for them earlier.

None the less, justice MR Shah, regarding the concerns expressed by Datar went on to say that arrangements are being made and that the safety of students will not be compromised.
