New Delhi: The Coronavirus outbreak has definitely brought about multiple changes in the way education is going to be perceived this year. While the students studying in the final year for the academic year 2019-2020 continue to wait for a final verdict from the Supreme Court on August 10, Delhi University had announced earlier about their process to conduct open book exams (OBE) for final year undergraduate students.

With the decision still awaited and the petitions that have been filed in order to reconsider the guidelines and the compulsory exams for final year students as has been directed by the University Grants Commission. And now, in the latest updates, Delhi University has been allowed to conduct online open book exams for the students, due to kickstart from August 10. In addition, Delhi High Court has also directed DU to provide students with the question papers on mail as well as the online portal while also allowing students extra time to upload the answer sheets.

This decision by HC was taken via a video conference where a plea regarding the conduction of the Open book exams by DU was in question post the guidelines laid out by UGC. The verdict was pronounced by Justice Prathiba M Singh and she has further directed DU to also ensure that the students receive an email (auto-generated) confirming the receival of their answer sheets upon uploading them,

These open book exams will take place from August 10 to the end of the month and those students who fail to do so during the stipulated period will also be given a chance to write their papers in September when the physical examinations take place. 

Currently, all schools and educational institutions are shut until August 31, as has been directed by the government in its guidelines for Unlock phase 3.
