The final year exams have now been a concern all the more since the Supreme Court has directed universities to conduct exams as per the UGC guidelines. However, the verdict ruled out that states can ask for an extension beyond September 30, if needed be. And so, there have been regular updates from across various states regarding the final year exams.

As has been decided by the Odisha government, they will be conducting the exams by September 30 itself and also announce results by October 31, both of which, abide the guidelines laid out by UGC. This decision came post a meeting that was held on Monday and Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar said that the exams can be held in any of the modes suggested by the UGC guidelines. None the less, he added that the universities and colleges will take a decision about the dates for these exams.

 Meanwhile, there is also a provision to conduct a special set of exams in December 2020 for students who are unable to write them in September and also, the back papers for final year students writing the paper in September.

Meanwhile, a similar decision has been taken by the government of Haryana as far as the final year exams are concerned. As per the release, the decision was taken by the Education council via video conferencing and present were the vice chancellors as well as controllers of exams from the government aided universities.

As per the information, over 2 lakh students are in their final year across various colleges in the state, and that arrangements will be done in order to help students write the exams. The spokesperson also assured that the necessary SOPs will be taken and there will be a provision for both compartments as well as re-exams.

In addition, students will be given the option to write their exams either online or offline, and the necessary protocol will be followed while arrangements for accommodation where required, will also be made. The exams are going to be MCQs and short answers along with explanatory ones and in fact, some universities have already taken the exams.
