Guwahati: The final year students have been awaiting a decision from the Supreme Court regarding the guidelines that were laid out by the University Grants Commission. However, as it turns out, there are Universities that have decided to conduct the exams either way and in fact, it somehow feels like it is in the best interest of the students. The latest news coming in is from Gauhati University.

As has been informed by the University, it will be conducting the final year exams as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) it has laid out. The exams are due to begin from September 22, and these exams are going to be conducted in a blended mode while ensuring the COVID-19 protocol is followed. This is in line with the UGC’s guidelines to compulsorily conduct exams.

Meanwhile, those students who have been studying in the intermediate years will be promoted on the basis of their performance in the internal assessments, however, those in their final years are going to be marked on a 50-50 ration, of which, offline exams are also going to be a part, along with the assessments.

While the question paper is going to be a standard and will have content from the entire syllabus, the students are required to attempt questions for gaining only 50% of the total marks. The other 50%, however, is going to be marked on the basis of the assessments.

Meanwhile, as far as the intermediate sem students are concerned, those will be evaluated on the basis of assessment as well as the theory marks from earlier. This is applicable to those who have ensured the submission of the forms before the last date.
