Bengaluru – The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has brought about a lot of changes and revisions in the exam dates, results, etc. And now, the latest updates suggest that the Karnataka government has taken a decision on the Common Entrance Test for the state. The KCET will be held across the state on July 30 and July 31, as has been decided.

Since KCET will also have students and parents from other states and countries, in order to ensure that the exams are conducted seamlessly, they will be entitled to a four-day quarantine relaxation. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has also informed the press regarding all safety measures being ensured during the CET exams as was witnessed while the SSLC exams were conducted.

Over 1.95 lakh students will be appearing for the CET exams spread across 120 places and 497 centres. Meanwhile, for students from the border regions neighbouring the states, the Kannada Test will take place on August 1, 2020.

Bengaluru will have over 40,200 students appearing for the CET exams across 83 centres. Of the students appearing for the exams, thirty students account for foreigners as has been revealed and the standard operating procedure for the exams has been framed, as informed by the Deputy CM.

Some of them include thermal wearing, ensuring social distancing and masks along with sanitisation of the centres 2 days ahead of the exams. Meanwhile, if in case a student happens to test COVID positive, there will be provisions for them to write the exam in a separate room. In addition, anyone with cough and cold will also be writing the exams separately and ambulances along with transport facilities will be available at all the centres.

Meanwhile, the PG-CET as well as the Diploma CET exams have been postponed by the government as the final year exams haven’t been conducted yet. These exams were due to be held on August 8 and August 9. The new dates for the same are now awaited.
