Thiruvananthapuram: The coronavirus pandemic poses a grave threat to the lives of students, workers, and everyone who has been stepping out on a daily basis. While the government has laid out rules and has been imposing strict guidelines in order to ensure the safety of its citizens, sometimes things go out of control.

As it turns out, things did go out of control during the recent Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) which tool place on July 16. Since the exams did witness a few 100s of students and also parents accompanying them, there was a crowd outside the examination centre.

In turn, the Kerala police has gone ahead and registered a case against the parents of students present at the KEAM 2020 entrance exam centre as they were witnessed flouting the protocol laid out in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the protocol was obviously under threat, the students and parents ended up risking their own lives as it has bene reported that a 17-year-old boy from Poonthura in Thiruvananthapuram, has tested positive for the virus. Apart from him, another two students as well as a parent has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Social media has been buzzing with photos and videos of people crowding outside the exam centre on the day of the KEAM exams. While a case has already been registered, the police is going to go ahead and verify these pictures as well as videos in order to identify people.

The case was registered under relevant sections of the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020.

Meanwhile, BJP member Sobha Surendran has lashed out at the Kerala government for conducting the exams despite the cancellation of national level entrance exams. She also went on to mention how two students tested positive and added that this is what everyone was warned about after all and the Kerala CM went ahead with the exams anyway.
