New Delhi: There have been constant arguments as to how will the academic year proceed given that it is very difficult to conduct exams. However, if not passed without exams, students will be left hanging in between and hence, as has been announced by The Board of Governors, Medical Council of India, a batch cannot move to the next year without having written the exams. Hence, the universities will have to conduct exams and only then promote the students in various MBBS courses.

This decision has come as a result of the considerations about reopening educational institutions for the final year exams. As has been advised by the council, these students can go to their internships once they have passed the exams and that the primary aim must be the successful completion of the course, including the practicals, etc within two months of as and when the government allows conducting the exams. (likely to be in a month).

However, as far as the 2nd and 3rd as well as the Final year exams for MBBS students this year, the time at which the course completed will depend on when the universities go back to being operational. Meanwhile, the MCI has also instructed that all other exams for the final year students need to be completed as soon as possible while the colleges that are through with the courses need not wait until the reopening of educational institutions.

In addition, Maharashtra State Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh has instructed the concerned university to begin with the UG classes and also allow them to take internships as and when things get better. However, this decision has now changed that as only classes can be conducted while internships will have to wait.
