New Delhi: Difficult times are gripping everyone with the Coronavirus pandemic, however, students who have just come out of school might suffer the most if enough provisions aren’t made for college admissions. In the wake of similar concern, unlike wanting to cancel the examinations for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2020) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2020), a set of parents are awaiting a decision regarding their plea in the Supreme court, appealing the apex court to not cancel the exams.

The dates for both NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 were rescheduled for the second time and September 2020 was zeroed down as the right time. While there is also a plea that urges the court to cancel the exams, the one by Gujarat Parents Association has urged the SC to not cause any further delay. So now, there is a conflict in what the 11 aspirants who filed a plea for cancellation and the request from the parents’ body.

While the plea from the parents does highlight the effects of the constant postponing of the exams on the students’ mental health, it also highlights the loss of an academic year as far as the 2020-21 batch is concerned. While it does focus on the aforesaid problems, it also goes on to mention that a delay in exams also means a delay in the admission process.

With the exam dates coming closer, it is only becoming a cause of increasing worry for both students and parents. As of now, the dates for JEE Main 2020 are September 1 to 6 while that for NEET 2020 is September 13. The rescheduling of the JEE Main exams also affected the JEE Advances 2020 (IIT JEE), which will be taking place on September 27, 2020, as of now.

Since the exams generally wrap up by June, the admissions are done by July. However, with a delay of months in all of this already, everything is a little haywire right now. None the less, the increasing number of cases are also a growing concern.
