Hyderabad: The Coronavirus pandemic has created a sense of fear and worry in all final year college students since their fate continues to be uncertain. However, the UGC did lay out certain rules and regulations earlier and in light of the same, many states have complied with going ahead with exams for students.

And now, the Telangana government comes to the final decision to go take the examinations for the final year candidates as per the instructed by the UGC as well as AICTE.

As has been told by the government of Telangana in a release, they will conduct exams for a degree, PG, and Engineering students, thereby following the guidelines laid out by UGC and AICTE. This decision comes post a meeting that was held by CM K Chandrashekhar Rao to discuss education concerns.

In addition to the decision regarding exams, it has also been discussed that August 17 will mark the commencement of a new academic year for engineering students so as to ensure they don’t lose out on an entire year.

However, the decision regarding re-opening schools is still awaited including the likes of decisions on teaching mode and other concerns as far as the COVID 19 situation in the country is considered. The decision on those issues will only be taken after guidelines have been issued by the centre and also, depending on how other states are operating amid the crisis.

This has probably been the longest time since colleges and schools have remained close given the pandemic situation in the country. During the meeting, the CM also spoke to Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy about working towards strengthening government educational systems. While instructions have been laid out to conduct meetings with educationalists and others for the same, the release has also clearly stated how it intends on following guidelines from the UGC and AICTE as far as administration, syllabus, and exams are concerned.
