New Delhi: The CBSE Class 12 results 2020 were announced on July 13 and today, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the class 10 results on its official website: cbseresults.nic.in. Since these are provisional results, students are advised to take a screenshot of their screens via the website. The results were due today afternoon as was announced by HRD minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank yesterday. He also took to Twitter today to make the announcement about the results and congratulate students.

With over 18 lakh students having appeared for the CBSE class 10 exams this year, this has indeed created a lot of buzz and has everyone on the edge. When the results for CBSE class 12 students were announced, there happened to be a minor glitch, but the results were updated via other platforms, including Digilocker, IVR, etc.

Coming to the statistics for the results this year, the overall pass percentage has been maintained as it is 91.46% this year. Last year, the pass percentage was stood at 91.10%. Out of the 1873015 who appeared for the exams this year, 1713121 students have passed. As was the case for CBSE class 12 results 2020, Trivandrum tops the region-wise pass percentage list with 99.28% while Chennai and Bengaluru are at the second and third spots respectively. Guwahati has the lowest pass percentage for CBSE class 10 exams at 79.12%.

With over 41,000 students scoring 95% in the CBSE class 10 board exams, almost 10% have managed to score over 90% this year. Meanwhile, the merit list hasn’t been released by the board this year in lieu of the ongoing Pandemic.

As far as the pass percentages based on gender is concerned, this year, the girls have done better as the pass percentage for them is 93.31% while it is 90.14% for others. The pass percentage for transgender students, on the other hand, has reduced from 94.74% last year to 78.95% this year.

Meanwhile, the board had laid out certain assessment regulations for calculating the results for both 10th and 12th standard students as not everyone could write the exams due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Hence, according to the scheme laid out by them:

  • If a student has appeared for more than three subjects, he will be marked on the basis of the average of best of three subjects.
  • If a student has written 3 exams, he will be marked on the basis of the average marks obtained in two (highest of the three) subjects.
  • As for those who appeared for one or two exams only, the scores will be a mix of marks obtained in the exam and their internal submissions/assignments.

The CBSE class 10 exams kickstarted on February 15 and were cut short up to March 20 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The exams that were scheduled from March 19 onwards couldn’t be conducted and were scheduled between July 1-15, however, they got canceled as well upon intervention from the SC.
