New Delhi: The Coronavirus pandemic has been tough on everyone and students seem to be suffering the most. While there are debates around exams and education that continue to take place, there are also clashes as to how to go about certain things with people having opposing opinions. And in the wake of the same, the Supreme Court has now given its decision regarding the plea that sought for NEET 2020 and JEE Main exams being postponed.

As has been ruled out today, the petition from eleven students across 11 states, urging the SC to postpone the exams has now been dismissed. The decision came as a result of the SC’s understanding of how this could harm the career of students, especially given the large scale at which the exams take place. Over 25 lakh students have registered themselves for the exams, due to be held in September.

While the plea has been dismissed, there were also four other petitions that urged SC not to postpone the medical and engineering entrance exams. The plea was primarily filed raising concerns for the safety at exam centres, as well as woes about transport.

While the decision has been made, a group of parents had also sought for postponing the exams. A body of parents, called of India Wide Parents Association (IWPA), approached the same as they wrote to Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of the ministry of home affairs and education.

While the letter clearly mentioned that the group is looking at postponing the exams and not cancelling them altogether, the decision has now been made and the dates for both the exams now remain the same.

The JEE Main exams 2020 will be taking place from September 1 to 6, 2020, while the NEET 2020 exams are supposed to be held on September 13, 2020. These exams have already been scheduled after multiple delays and hence, there happen to be unavoidable circumstances, there won’t be any further changes.
