New Delhi: The JEE Main exams as well as the NEET 2020 exams have been under the radar for the longest time now. While there were multiple pleas demanding that the exams be postponed, it was ruled out that they will be conducted as per the schedule. The JEE Main exams 2020 kickstarted on September 1, 2020, and it was noticed that the attendance for the same was only 65 percent. As a result, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has not only slammed the central government but also demanded a re-examination. It blamed the government for lack of planning and moving too quickly to conduct exams.

As told by the NSUI National Secretary Lokesh Chugh, there are centres that have also reported attendance of less than 45 percent and hence, a re-examination must be conducted for those students who couldn’t attend the exams due to lack of planning and taking exams amid a pandemic. He added how the majority of students should not miss out on the academic session while strongly condemned the forced decision of conducting the exams despite students demanding a postponement.

He further went on to say how despite claims that measures have been taken to ensure smoothing functioning of the exams as well as adequate transport facilities, the low attendance only proves that the authority has failed to do so and that in turn, kept students away from writing the exams when they happened.

NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan has also went on to demand accurate arrangements be done for those students who head from rural areas while the Congress had earlier launched a campaign urging the exams to be postponed on august 28, 2020.

While there have been regular updates regarding the exams, the attendance percentages sure have raised a lot of questions!
