Chandigarh: July seems to be all about the exam results and process of admissions, courtesy the delay caused due to the Coronavirus lockdown. While schools are going on with online lectures, the results continue to roll in and today, the class 12 results have been announced by the Punjab School Education Board. Students can avail of their results on the official website: pseb.ac.in.

This year saw over 3 lakh students write the class 12 PSEB exams and the pass percentage seems to have gotten substantially better. A total of 2,86,378 students had appeared for the PSEB class 12 exams this year and 2,60,547 students have made it to the cut.

With an increase in the pass percentage by 4.57%, this year, the overall pass percentage is a strong 90.98%. The girls are slightly ahead of boys as far as the gender wise pass percentage is concerned. Girls have a pass percentage of 94.83% while boys are at 90.99%.

Now, as far as the streamwise pass percentages are concerned, Science students are ahead with 94.82% followed by Arts students at 92.87%, Commerce students with 91.05% and Vocational course students at 88.81%.

The exams were conducted in March 2020, however, unlike the past years, when the results are out in and around May, this year witnessed a delay due to the ongoing pandemic situation in the country. Meanwhile, the class 10 students were promoted to class 11 based on how they performed in their pre-boards while some results of other classes have been declared by the board.

The class 12 exams, on the other hand, witnessed a lot of trouble given the back and forth announcements. However, ultimately, the board had to come up with a new assessment formula in order to make it an easier process for the students amid the pandemic.
