New Delhi: For a long time now, there have been opposing views regarding NEET and JEE Main 2020 entrance exams. Despite multiple pleas, the Supreme Court decided to let the exams be conducted as per schedule. However, it looks like the students are not in agreement with the decision and in fact, observed a day-long hunger strike to put their point forward.

Many leaders, including the likes of Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, have urged the centre to consider postponing the exams. As per the All India Students Association (AISA), thousands of students went on a day long strike from their homes demanding the cancellation of CBSE compartment exams as well as the entrance exams like CLAT, NEET, among others.

The hashtag, SATYAGRAHagainstExamInCovid took to Twitter and everyone has been raising questions as to how will the students travel so far, or write exams wearing marks, or in fact, where will they stay? Such questions are rather alarming after all and hence, they have urged the government to put a hold on exams until things are back to normal.

Apart from their own problems, the issue of parents being worried and unwell, among others, are also primary reasons cited in few of the tweets. In fact, many students have also urged the government to declare this a zero year and postpone the exams.

Among others, JNU Students Union president, Aishe Ghosh also revealed that multiple students from various other universities have also written to NTA about the exam date for UGC NET.

With all the universities shut since mid March, followed by a lockdown, everything has been rather dilly dally and now, the COVID-19 numbers have been on an all time rise, making it a worrisome situation for all. With everything happening online, the offline exams are a rather dangerous step to take at this point of time.
