New Delhi: The Coronavirus pandemic has undoubtedly brought about a change in the way we will be doing everything now. While there are various concerns, one regarding examinations has been around ever since the lockdown first kicked in, affecting the board exams for students back then. However, even with the unlock phase in full swing, there are still safety concerns and complete movement is yet not safe.

And while the exams have been going on and others are due, Delhi University was amongst the first few to decide to conduct open book exams online. And now, DU is gearing up for the offline open book exams as a part of the second phase, which will kickstart from September 14. The University has released guidelines regarding the same.

Among everything that it mentions, some of the important ones include the role of queue managers and ropes to main social distancing, ensure temperature check for everyone present on the day of exams and also make students sign an undertaking that states, they don’t have any of the COVID-19 symptoms.

Meanwhile, the sitting areas are going to be sanitized, as it the standard procedure and the same will be done before every shift of the exams and attendance is going to be taken manually with the help of signature and a unique paper code. Meanwhile, students will be given a tray/drop box in order to submit their answer sheets once done. The seating plans are going to be communicated to the students in advance via email in order to follow social distancing and also avoid any kind of confusion.

Meanwhile, exit and entry protocols have also been mentioned in order to follow social distancing and the students have been asked to bring their own papers for writing the exams. In addition, they are also supposed to bring other safety tools like sanitizers, face masks and gloves.

It was during a write petition against these exams back on August 17 that the Delhi High Court directed the university to conduct a second phase of the exams in offline mode.
